Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what personal data baranim.com collects, why, who receives it and how long we keep it. It covers this website only. Our platforms (Riwaq, Raawy and Wolloj) have their own privacy policies on their own sites.
Who is responsible
baranim.com is published by Baranim, a software company based in Morocco. Baranim decides why and how the data described below is used, and is therefore responsible for it.
You can reach us at contact@baranim.com for any question about your data.
Data we collect
The site has no accounts and no advertising. The only way to give us data is the contact form, which asks for three things: your name, your email address and your message. Anything else you write in the message is also received, so please do not include sensitive information.
When you visit the site, our host also processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Cookies and tracking
The site sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Cloudflare, which delivers the site, may set strictly necessary security cookies. See our cookie policy for details.
When you open the home page, the site picks English, French or Arabic by reading the language your browser sends (the Accept-Language header). Nothing is stored about this choice.
Why we use your data
We use the details you send through the contact form only to read your message, reply to you and follow up on your request. By sending the form, you agree that we process these details for that purpose.
We do not sell your data, we do not rent it and we do not use it for advertising or newsletters you did not ask for.
Technical data is used by our host only to deliver the site, fix problems and protect it from attacks and abuse.
How your message travels
When you send the form, a Cloudflare Worker turns it into an email and sends it, through Cloudflare’s email service, to our contact address. That address is forwarded to our team’s mailbox, which is hosted by our email provider. The reply-to address is set to yours, so we can answer you directly.
The site does not store form submissions in a database. Your message exists only as an email in our mailbox.
Who receives your data
Only the Baranim team reads your messages. We rely on two service providers to run the site: Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts and delivers the site and carries the form, and our email provider, which hosts our mailbox. They process data on our behalf and only for these purposes.
We do not share your data with anyone else, except if the law requires us to do so.
Transfers outside Morocco
Cloudflare and our email provider operate internationally, so your data may be processed on servers located outside Morocco. We only use providers that apply recognised security standards, and we limit what we send to what is needed to run the site and handle your message.
How long we keep it
We keep a contact message for as long as we need it to handle your request and any follow-up, and for 24 months at most after our last exchange. After that, we delete it.
Technical logs are kept by Cloudflare for the period set in its own retention policy.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), we collect as little data as possible, and access to our mailbox is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Your rights
Under Moroccan law 09-08 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected, to object to its use and to have it deleted. Write to contact@baranim.com and tell us what you would like. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we answer within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.
If you think your rights are not respected, you can complain to the Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère Personnel (CNDP), the Moroccan data protection authority: www.cndp.ma.
Children
This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Raawy, our platform for children’s stories, is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example if the site changes or the law does. The new version is published on this page with its date at the top. Please check back from time to time.
